Teacher In-Service – Early Release Day

Students will be released early on Tuesday, December 10 for Teacher In-Service Day.

  • Elementary School Early Release at 11:15 AM
  • Junior High & High School Early Release at 11:30 AM

These Faculty In-Service days are a key component in the ongoing development and improvement of the curriculum at Illinois Lutheran. We meet during the day because many of our teachers coach sports and activities after school.

Early Release On Wednesday During Advent

During the Advent Season, our churches (Zion and Trinity) hold special Wednesday afternoon advent services. In order to allow time for our students and faculty to attend services and avoid parking lot congestion, school at the high school and junior high will be dismissed at 2:55 PM instead of the normal time of 3:18 PM. This early release will be in effect on December 11. Please note this time change and plan accordingly.

If you do not have a home church, you are welcome to join us in celebrating the birth of our Lord at the 3:30 PM or 7 PM services at either of our churches.

Winter Wonderfest at Navy Pier

Student Council will be hosting a trip to the Winter Wonderfest at Navy Pier on Friday, December 20 for all high school students. We are planning on leaving from ILHS at 1 PM and returning back to school by 8 PM. The cost for this event is $20, which includes admission and transportation. This trip is first come first serve and there are only 28 spots. Students should turn their money and permission slip into Mr. Adickes or Mr. Lash ASAP. Questions? Contact Mr. Phil Adickes.

All 7th & 8th graders are invited to attend to read books to our young friends from ILS preschool, area WELS Sunday Schools, and kids from the community. Please RSVP to Amanda by Monday, December 9 so we know how many readers and leaders we’ll have.

Children’s Christmas Service

We will celebrate our Children’s Christmas Service on Sunday, December 15 at 2 PM at the high school. Illinois Lutheran students in grades 3 Year Preschool thru 6th grade will participate in the service. Everyone is invited to attend the service. Please join us as we celebrate the birth of our King!

Six Flags Great America Grad Nite

Grad Night is a lock in at Great America on Saturday, May 9, 2020. All high school students will have the opportunity to ride the roller coasters from 9:30 PM until 4 AM. The cost is $78. This includes the ticket, bus ride and one (all you can eat) meal voucher.

A $40 deposit and permission slip is due by Friday, December 13. Participation will be on a first come first serve basis, NOT class seniority. This deposit is NOT refundable.

Advent

From the Latin word for “coming”, Advent is a time of preparation and anticipation for the coming of Christ both in the past in His incarnation as the baby Jesus, but also in the future with His promised second coming as Christ Triumphant. Furthermore, Advent is a time to focus on His present coming to us in the Word and Sacraments. We invite you to join us at Trinity or Zion to celebrate this Advent season.

O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appears.
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
