New Teacher Installation

Everyone is invited to attend Zion Lutheran Church this Sunday, August 18 at 9 AM. Our new teachers, Mrs. Anne Adickes, Miss Megan Koester, and Mr. Gabriel Plocher, will be installed.

There will be a cookie and coffee reception in the church hall following the service. Please join us in praising God for these new teachers!

Picture Day Tomorrow

Picture day for the Junior High and High School students will be tomorrow, Friday, August 16. Order forms have been sent home.

If you have a student in 8th grade or one that is a senior, Lifetouch will return in October to take graduation pictures. Students will be asked to dress up for those photos. You will have the option to order those pictures in addition to, or instead of the ones being taken tomorrow.

Student Council Luncheon

Student Council is hosting a lunch for ALL freshmen and new high school students on Friday, August 16 at 12 noon at Aurelio’s in Crete. Questions? Contact Mr. Phil Adickes.

Freshman Physicals

Freshmen must have their Illinois State Physical form to the office as soon as possible. This is required by the state of Illinois.

Labor Day Weekend

Students at the Junior High and High School will be released early on Friday, August 30. The school will be closed on Monday, September 2. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 3.

New Security Measures

Illinois Lutheran is taking new security measures, to ensure the safety of our staff and students. These include, but are not limited to, the following rules:

  • Parents and family members will need to identify themselves at the new window in the vestibule before being allowed entry into the building. Identification may be requested. Please inform your emergency contacts that they may need to show proof of their identity when picking up your child.
  • You may drop off a special treat for your child’s birthday, if the office is notified in advance. Food delivery services and restaurants (including DoorDash) will not be allowed in the building. This eliminates the opportunity for strangers to have access to our facility.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Archer at 708.672.3262 or jearcher@ilhs.org.

In Memoriam: Donovan Zastrow

The Lord has taken home our brother in Christ, Mr. Donovan Zastrow. Donovan served Illinois Lutheran faithfully as a teacher and assistant activities director. His smile and kindness will be remembered fondly by the faculty, staff, and students. Please pray for his family during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held this Sunday, August 18 at 3:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crete (1393 Elizabeth Street). A meal will follow the service.

Hot Lunch and Pizza Day

Hot Lunch will begin on Tuesday, September 3. Pizza Day will begin in mid-September. Please make sure that your child packs a lunch as there will be no food available for purchase until those programs start. The September menu will be available in the next few days.

Weekly orders are due the Friday PRIOR to the week you are ordering for. You may also order by the month. Single orders are $3.50 and double orders are $4.25.

Same day hot lunch orders (orders placed at the window or turned into the office the day of the hot lunch they are ordering), will be increased to $4.50 for single orders and $5.25 for double orders.

For students who ordered milk for the school year, they will begin receiving milk on the first full day of school, Monday, August 19. If you are interested in ordering milk, please contact the school office at 708.672.3262.

Pizza Day Help

The Illinois Lutheran Booster Club is looking for help on pizza day, which is every Monday beginning in September. We are in need of volunteers to continue offering this program to the ILS students. If you are willing to volunteer on pizza day to help serve, please contact the school office at 708.672.3262.

Trinity Teen Ministry

Whether school has already started or it’s coming up soon, we’re all looking for one last relaxing day of summer. Trinity is hosting everyone 13-18 years old for an afternoon of backyard games and a bunch of food.

Games + Food = Fun. That’s just science.

Join us Friday, August 25 from 2 -5 PM on the south lawn at Illinois Lutheran High School. Come ready to play cornhole, Kan Jam and other low-stress games, or just hang out.

Have a backyard favorite of your own? Bring it! A light meal will be served. Want to bring something else? Simply tell us in advance.

Please let Rene Zuniga, Jacob Lash or David Kenyon know you’ll be there and if any friends are joining you.

Mr. Rick and Coach Kenny promise to beat your team in cornhole, but they welcome all challengers. Questions? Contact Mr. Lash.
