Internationals
Illinois Lutheran High School provides a university-preparatory program of education for grades 9-12 that has a reputation for excellence, with easy access to Chicago’s many cultural opportunities. While maintaining high academic standards, Illinois Lutheran offers special tutoring in English through our International Learning Coordinator for its international students.
The International Learning Coordinator supports all international students with their day-to-day needs. Illinois Lutheran is an affordable school for international students in comparison with other schools with similar academic programs.
Illinois Lutheran’s international students live with host families who can provide a true American cultural experience in a home environment. Illinois Lutheran is located in Crete, IL, only 35 minutes from downtown Chicago. Many of Chicago’s cultural experiences are only minutes away, accessible by the Metra train, bus or car.
Student Support
At Illinois Lutheran we provide daily support for our International students. Every day each of our international students spends at least one hour with our learning coordinator. This provides support for English as well as for all of the academic classes. Additionally, Illinois Lutheran maintains a low teacher-pupil ratio (1-10) in all of our classes throughout the school.
Limited Numbers of International Students
At Illinois Lutheran we want to ensure that each of our International Students has a quality immersion experience when they come to study in the United States. Therefore, we limit the number of students we accept to make certain each receives the support and opportunities necessary to prepare for college in the United States.
Homestay
We believe that a large part of the International experience is the opportunity to live with a family in the community. Therefore, each student we accept is carefully placed into a home where they will be treated like a family member. They will be involved in family activities, participate in family outings, and attend social gatherings. The friendships they make with their families extend well beyond their high school years.
Cost of the Program
Illinois Lutheran provides a quality International experience at a reasonable price. We will work through the cost of tuition and additional fees once you have been accepted.
Student Success
Illinois Lutheran offers a rigorous academic program for all students. This includes AP courses in Math, History, English and Spanish as well as many Honors classes. Graduates from ILHS do well on SAT and college admissions testing and are accepted at colleges throughout the Midwest and across the country. Graduates go on to be successful in business, advertising, education and medical careers.
