This year, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, Illinois Lutheran is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving. Last year, more than 45,000 organizations in 71 countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday. Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities.
Illinois Lutheran asks that you take some time with your family on #GivingTuesday to look at Illinois Lutheran School’s needs. We are setting a goal of raising $10,000 on #GivingTuesday. We can easily reach that goal if every family donates $40! If you are able to give even more, you will help us exceed our goal!
Are you able to donate your time? We are looking for families to donate 500 hours of their time! Can you bake brownies, cookies or other goodies for a bake sale? Can you come help with concessions at a basketball game? Want to serve pizza to our kids? Donate items to help thank our teachers? Donate goods, services, or put together a gift basket to donate for the Gala event? Would you be willing to donate blood? Interested in hosting an International Student? We have many different needs, and many different opportunities to help Illinois Lutheran.
y.Promote generosity with your kids by looking for projects that speak to your passion and interests and make a donation. You can also help by spreading the word on your social channels using the hashtag #GivingTuesday.

International Student Visitation Program
During the last week of January and the first week of February, our school will be hosting a group of students from China who are visiting American schools during their winter break. These students will attend classes at our school, visit local area attractions, and briefly experience what life in America is like.
We will be hosting 14 students who are currently in grades 6-10. We are in need of host families that can take two students into their homes for this brief stay. If you interested in finding out more about the program, please contact Mrs. Monica Uhlenbrauck or Mr. Joe Archer at 708.672.3262.
